THE COMBAT SQUADRON

During the last year, several members of MARKS have become very
interested in SSC combat. They have competed in the NAT'S competition
at the 2007 and 2008 Nationals in Muncie, Indiana, and other area meets. This fall,
The MARKS CLUB sponsored two AMA sanctioned meets at MARKS FIELD under
the direction of Club member, Sam Windsor. Therefore, a new web page has
been added to highlight their activities.
MARKS Spring Shootout
Our Spring Shoot Out this year had
fabulous temperatures with medium winds. There were 15 contestants which gave
us heats of 7 and 8 planes per heat, very exciting. Bill Young worked the
grill, and Jim Waybright was the CD (Contest Director), stepping in for David
Hess who usually does these and made it back to town to help with the end of
the event. Thank you Jim Event results are below.
2009 MARKS Fall Shootout
On October 10th the MARKS Club held its second SCC Combat
event of 2009. Fifteen flyers from Seaford, Baltimore, and the MARKS Club
participated in the event. I good number of spectators showed up to witness
the event. Following are pictures and scores from the event.

MARKS Spring Shootout
On May 2, 2009, MARKS hosted an SSC event at
MARKS field. Participants came from Lewis, Seaford, Laurel (MD), and Harford County clubs. All total there were 13 participants,
which forced us into 2 heats per round.
The combat was very clean, with few mid air
collisions and downed planes. Over half of the participants achieved scores of at least 1000 points for 6 rounds. Scores below.
