ABOUT MARKS

AS07 Group2.jpg (351042 bytes)The MARKS club was founded in 1957 to promote the building and flying of radio controlled model aircraft. The club currently has approximately sixty-five members and maintains an AMA quality flying field on St. Lukes Road just Southeast of Fruitland, Maryland.  Again in 2007, MARKS has been designated, by the AMA, as a special gold leader club. This is the eight straight year that the club has received this honor.

Club membership is open to anyone who has an interest in model aircraft building or flying. Anyone interested is welcome to attend our monthly meetings or drop by the field to talk with some experienced flyers. Each month we post a club newsletter, The Informer, so that you can read about the activities of the club on an ongoing basis. Click the NEWSLETTER selection on the left to access them.

The above photo represents some of the club's most active members and was taken at our new field during our 2007 annual air show. Click photo to enlarge.

MEETING SCHEDULE

Marks monthly club meetings are held the last Tuesday of each month with the exception of November and December. There is no scheduled meeting in November and the Club holds an annual Christmas/dinner meeting in December. Meeting dates and location for the entire year can be seen on the calendar page of this site. The next scheduled meeting will be held on May 27th at 7:30 p.m. at the following location:

MARKS Field
1918 ST. Lukes Road
Salisbury, MD

Visitor flying privileges at MARKS Field

Because of the MARKS Clubs close proximity to Ocean City, many people visiting the area ask about guest fly privileges at our field. Due to the large number of requests and in order to maintain safety standards at the field, the Club’s longstanding policy has been that a current club member, in good standing, needs to accompany all guests while at the field and that the guest must be a current AMA member. This privilege is limited to three visits. For individuals that wish to fly more than three time, the club has a special vacation package available.

CONTACT US

The official contact for the club is David Hess who may be reached at (410) 632-3967 or at his e-mail address.  Several other members have volunteered their phone numbers as well and their names are listed on the members page of this site. Please feel free to contact any of them.
